We have all used Google to search for something on the internet. We type in the details and let Google (or Bing, etc) do their thing and return to us a magic list – the Search Results. These Search Engines, the SE part of SEO, have complex algorithms to rate webpages.

As a time-poor, information saturated generation, we end up putting a lot of trust in what information they share back to us. We rely on the list and how they prioritize the list of search results. We normally focus our attention to the first few listings and rarely read past page one. So being first is important.

Of course we can also pay for advertising so we appear in the paid section. This can be expensive and many people put more faith in the organic (non-paid) search results; they trust these more.

So, what if someone out there on the interweb is looking for a product or service of your business. How does your business perform? Are you at position one? Are you on page one?
